The title of this dissertation is built on a comparison of the pension system of the Czech Republic and Great Britain with focus on long-term financial sustainability in the contexts of public funds and draft of recommendations towards the Czech Republic. The theoretical part is focused on the fundamental definition and funding of pension system in general. The theme of practical part is historical development and ongoing reforms mainly with focus on analyses of conditions and use of pension systems and their link to pay-as-you-go system (1st. pillar). Subsequent comparison analyses of the chosen parameters focus on long-term financial sustainability of pay-as-you-go system in respect to current demographic development. Therefore, the draft of recommendations made towards the Czech Republic is a reflection of facts that came out of the analyses combined with current political-social development based on the very important role of pension system in the social politic concept of the Czech Republic.
